Our members won People’s Choice award at UIST ’17 Student Innovation Contest

Every year at UIST, there is an event called Student Innovation Contest, where teams of students build interactive systems with a special hardware given by the UIST conference.

This year, students were given a robotic arm to play with. KAIST HCIL students, Keunwoo Park, Sangyoon Lee, Youngbo Shim, and Sunbum Kim, built a collaborative robot arm control system that needs three users to be controlled. Each of the three users controls a joint of a robot arm and collaboration between the users is crucial to complete a task, which was grabbing and dropping a ball to a goal basket, with the multi-joint robotic arm. The system was very popular during the contest session and the team received People’s Choice award!
